Web Help Needed

If you are interested in maintaining and improving the Paloma PTA web site, please email the webmaster or contact a PTA board member. Several tasks, including brainstorming, proofreading, and information gathering, do not require any web publishing knowledge. If there is sufficient interest, limited tutorials may be offered for those interested in learning more about simple web publishing.

Web Site Renewal

Our domain registration is renewed annually in the summer. An attempt will be made to notify visitors of potential issues related to the renewal process. Because internet publishing is a fast-changing industry, it is often in our best interests to change registrars and/or hosting services during the renewal period. We recognize that this can cause disruptions, but we must make every effort to minimize our spending in this area and will attempt to keep the disruptions to a minimum, especially near the start of the school year when our hit rate is the highest.

Free Email

No longer available through this web site. There are a variety of sources for free email if you are willing to put up with the internet advertising. To find one, try going to Google and searching for free email. You'll probably find more options than you want.

Other email addresses are generally not published on this web site due to the high volume of spam received by those emails that are published. If you would like to contact the webmaster or anyone else in the Paloma PTA, send email to the webmaster with a clear subject (that doesn't look like spam). An effort will be made to answer or forward your email within two weeks.

Web Site Updates

Updates are made on a sporadic basis as our busy volunteer webmaster finds the time to make them. Requests for updates are always considered and usually made, but may take up to 2 weeks to occur, depending on the webmaster's free time (may take longer during summer months or around holidays). Before contacting the webmaster about an update that you expected to have occurred, please make sure you are viewing the most recent version of the web page by refreshing or cleaning your cache (see known issue above about refresh problems). For main page updates, refresh should work and the date of the latest update will now be posted at the bottom of the main page.

I've received a lot of praise for the web site, but I'm not receiving many suggestions for improvement. If you have any suggestions, please send them to me or let a board member know. I can't promise I'll use all suggestions, but I'll certainly consider them all.

I'll be happy to talk to anyone who is interested in helping. Our previous webmaster moved away and I've been working to restore the website. I've been doing all of the updates myself so far, but this site could become much more than it is with a few more volunteers. Web design experience is not required - two of the most important tasks, proofreading and information gathering, require no knowledge of web design at all. If you are interested in helping, please contact me or a board member.
